A Life of Isolation is Killing You Slowly

You think you’re better off riding it solo?

That you don’t need anyone, that you can just do life by yourself?

That too many people in the past have hurt you, broken your trust, disappointed you, so why is it even worth trying anymore?

This is exactly what culture and society WANTS you to think.

They want you to disassociate from people.

You want to know the REAL TRUTH?!

We ALL need people in our lives, I don’t care how “tough” of a woman or man you are, deep down we need people.

Now, we need to be selective with who those people are and I have a great values-based exercise I do to make sure I’m on track with the people I’m aligning with in my life, but at the end of the day we all need family (regardless of how dysfunctional it may seem at times, and don’t think that family just has to be biological), and we all need close friends.

You want to know want of the biggest causes of suicide and early death in today’s world? Isolation.

It's one of the leading causes of depression, anxiety, chronic illness, and our inability to think for ourselves and add depth and meaning to our life.

It’s what the enemy wants.

He’ll throw every vice at you to prevent you from acquiring the communication skills and proper perspective to have relationships filled with meaning, depth, and one’s you can do life with.

Make it a point this year with your current relationships and friendships to dive deeper into them. Strangers at your gym, grocery store, church…get to know them, it adds to the culmination of your borrowed wisdom through the human experience of others.

I’d take 5 deep, meaningful relationships in life over 1,000 surface relationships. In my 20s, that was one of the biggest realizations to living a fulfilled life.

Go make friends, build more meaning into your life this year. Proud of you.
